There is an important difference between receiving the original scan or trajectory data and receiving only an already generated point cloud.
When the source data is available, the workflow may still allow work on registration, alignment, georeferencing and other earlier processing stages.
With a finished point cloud, the possibilities are different. The work may involve cleaning, filtering, optimisation or preparation for downstream use, but some problems originating during acquisition or registration may no longer be fully correctable without access to the underlying source data.
That distinction matters when evaluating what can realistically be improved.
Before deciding how to process a dataset, first establish what source data is actually available.
